WC in Eugene ended in a big way for Camilla Richardson. At the Kalifa Games, she received welcome proof that there is nothing wrong with her form when she won the 5,000m in great style.

Camilla Richardson excelled in the race and won a new Kalifa Games record of 15.33.35. She lost runner-up Janica Rauma by over a minute.

– I will run the first kilometer in 3.10. I was a little surprised that it was 3.05. Then panic set in – am I going to explode? But my legs were so light that I thought I’d keep going, she told Yle Sporten.

A solo run is rarely optimal, but she was helped by the announcer who mentioned she had the track record at the crossroads.

– It was an extra carrot that I hadn’t thought of before. Surprisingly close to my personal record.

The words come out of it in the corresponding area after the race. Clearly, this effort was a relief and a morale booster in front of the European Commission. Especially after the Espoo IF runner had to abandon the same race in the lavatory due to the sweltering heat.

It is a good idea to receive this form notification a week before the European Commission meeting. Now I feel very calm. The panic has subsided. I’m glad I got to drive this one. Otherwise, I would have felt insecure before the trip, she says.

Silver Path Friday opened the body

Today’s competition was a testament to what it felt like before WC. It is in standard condition.

But she admits that disappointment with the water cycle has led to a recession.

– I was in st. Moritz before the restroom and then all goes well. In the restroom, things went wrong. Then I went back to Switzerland and it was really bad at first. There was a time difference, I was mentally tired and very sad, you say.

She had already made the decision to cancel camp and go home. The turn came at the time of counting.

– The same day I told my coach that I was going home, I did a good workout. I called him again and said I was staying. After that it started rolling great.

Richardson not only won gold in the 5000m at the Kalifa Games. She also took silver behind the impossible Sara Koivisto in the 1,500-meter event.

Friday’s race went really well and opened my body up for today’s race. Looking at the EC, it was very good for me to run the 1500m and chose to get out of the tian. Now it’s just a matter of going home, feeling happy and getting to the final finish before the European Commission.

She will run at both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters in Munich.
