Vaccinated persons traveling from the United Kingdom to Sweden are exempt from entry restrictions and testing requirements

The government has decided to change the temporary entry ban for Sweden. These changes exempt individuals who can issue vaccination certificates issued in the UK from the entry ban and testing requirement for Sweden.

The temporary entry ban came into effect on 19 March 2020 and is initially valid for 30 days. Since then, it has been extended on several occasions, and the latest decision on the extension, the entry ban now applies until 31 October 2021.

The entry ban is a refusal to refuse entry into a foreign country traveling to Sweden from an EEA state or state other than Switzerland. The barrier has several exceptions, but usually requires a negative Covit-19 test, even if the passenger is covered by one of the exceptions.

The government’s decision today exempts people who travel to Sweden and can obtain a vaccination certificate issued in the UK from the entry ban and testing requirement.

Sweden and the United Kingdom have a close relationship and have long co-operated in many important areas. The trip between Sweden and the United Kingdom is very important to our two countries from many angles, not to facilitate mutual trade and increased investment. The United Kingdom allowed for some time to enter fully vaccinated sweaters with certain conditions. Currently, the British, on the other hand, cannot travel directly to Sweden unless there are no special exceptions to the rules. So it is important that even vaccinated Britons now travel easily to Sweden.

These changes will take effect on October 11, 2021.
