Volkswagen Financial Services UK has conducted a survey in the UK about what drivers think of self-driving cars. It showed that 46 percent of respondents think they are better at driving than a fully self-driving car. In Scotland, it was 54% among respondents. Only 21 percent of respondents said they would likely purchase a driverless car as soon as it became available. In this case, most of them spend time in the car listening to music and watching movies. The rest will read a book or sleep.
Mike Todd from Volkswagen Financial Services UK says:
“I think our study provides great insight into the collective psyche of British motorists because it confirms that we are a nation that is proud of drivers and that we are very confident in our abilities to drive. It speaks to a lot of us instead, being in control behind the wheel rather than being driven by highly advanced technology. Of course, the path to full autonomy will not be without challenges — which explains the slight concerns about self-driving vehicles revealed in our research — but if self-driving technology continues to evolve at its current pace, self-driving cars may be here much sooner than they are. Believe. “
