Nintendo Switch gets the long-awaited update

An unexpected software update for the successful Nintendo console brings welcome support for Bluetooth headphones.

The Nintendo Switch might be a slot machine that fans love. But one thing has sparked yellow fever among gamers around the world since its launch in 2017.

It was not possible to connect bluetooth headphones to the console – players instead had to make do with wired headphones.

Nintendo has now fixed the problem by sending a software update that seemed completely unexpected.

But the update comes with a fiery game: Two wireless controllers can only be connected to the Nintendo Switch if you connect a pair of Bluetooth headphones at the same time.

The system is also limited to being able to handle a pair of active Bluetooth headphones at a time. However, it is possible to store up to ten connected audio devices in the device sync list.

The new software also doesn’t support Bluetooth microphones, which in and of itself isn’t a huge surprise considering that Nintendo’s voice chat system relies on gamers using apps for the iPhone or Android.
