Low-cost airline EasyJet has officially opened its base at Málaga Airport, which will create 100 jobs. In the future, the company will not only transport holiday travelers to the Sun Coast, but will also extend the program to business travelers.

At 10.40 on Tuesday, an easyJet 320 named “Málaga” (pictured) landed. It is one of a total of three cruises made at the base on the Sun Coast.

In 2019, more than 2.5 million passengers traveled with easyJet to the destination of Málaga. Since the beginning in 1999, there have been 36 million passengers.

Easyjet already has bases in Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona. A total of 12 aircraft will be placed in Spain, which will create 400 jobs.

In addition to Easyjet operating several UK airports to Malaga, they also have routes to Berlin, Geneva, Paris and Amsterdam.

When Easyjet officially opened its base in Málaga yesterday, there were people from both the tourist authorities, the provincial council and the municipality.

Airport Director Pedro Pindala said that during the year investments will be made in better security and Terminal 2 will be modernized. The total budget is 34 million euros.

Bendala refers to “time slots” bookings, and permits to land and take off during the summer, so the numbers are 60 to 70 percent compared to 2019.

Vodafone recently decided to invest a larger part of its operations in Malaga, creating business opportunities. Málaga chose only one company out of many technology companies. These investments generate more business travelers.
