Google Pixel Pro can handle iPhone (from 2020)

Google made a splash with the launch of four new phones: the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. All of them feature new chipsets, new features, and new designs. All four phones feature the latest Tensor G4 chip with up to 16GB of RAM and prices that compete with Apple’s more expensive iPhones.

With a heavy focus on “Google’s most advanced AI” and promises of “powerful performance,” you might think the Tensor G4 is a chip that will outperform the latest Snapdragon processors and rival the A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro. But we now have the first benchmark results, and that’s not really the case.

Official reviews haven't been released yet, but the first results are in: Google's latest chip in the Pixel 9 Pro XL is great if you're looking to upgrade from the iPhone 12 Pro.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL offers a decent performance boost over the Pixel 8 Pro, which scored around 1,750 (single-core) and 4,250 (multi-core) – surprisingly, the new Pixel 9’s performance is the same as the Pixel 8 Pro. It’s beaten by the S24 Ultra, which scored 2,150 (single-core) and over 6,700 (multi-core). But it’s completely outclassed by the A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which scored around 3,000 and 7,500 in our tests. Then there’s the Pixel twice Lots of working memory.

In fact, you have to go all the way back to the iPhone 12 Pro, released in 2020, nearly four years ago, to find a similar iPhone. And remember, Apple has a brand new chip just around the corner that could widen the gap even further.
