Despite the dominance, it took until the 40th minute before England were able to break the deadlock, when Chelsea's Fran Kirby neatly flicked home wide from outside the box.
Just before half-time, Arsenal's Beth Mead scored her fifth goal of the tournament after a header from a Northern Ireland defender, becoming the first player ever to score in every European Championship group stage match.

England got off to a great start in the second half, with Alessia Russo needing just eight minutes to score two goals; the other a very fine one. Northern Ireland also managed to score an own goal before the end to make it 5-0.
England will thus qualify directly for Group 2, and will play the quarter-final match next Wednesday against the team that finishes second in Group 2.
