That's how slow the worst Intel chipsets are with “Intel Baseline” in the BIOS

Both Asus and Gigabyte have released UEFI software (“BIOS”) updates for motherboards compatible with 13th and 14th Gen Intel processors, with a new, improved settings profile to help many users experiencing instability in particularly Unreal Engine-based games with faster Processors in these families.

The two companies chose to call the profiles “Intel Baseline” and it relates to running processors at Intel's core specifications rather than automatic overclocking and voltage boosting. This of course also means sacrificing high performance, and WCCF technology It has now published figures on the size of the effect.

In devices with the most powerful circuits – the Core i9-13900K and i9-14900K as well as the same models in the KF and S variants – the difference is significant. The score in Cinebench R23 is about 30 percent lower with the Baseline profile compared to the automatic mode on the Gigabyte motherboard.

In games, the effect is mostly lower, which is not surprising since game performance also depends on other factors, but it is still around 10 percent with a large variation between different games and, as expected, a higher effect at lower resolutions.

The auto profile does not have a power cap. Intel's suggested Extreme profile has a maximum power of 320W, while the maximum power is 253W. By comparison, Gigabyte's Intel Baseline profile is set to a maximum power of 188W for short durations and 125W for longer durations.
