The Olympic Games are being held in Paris for the first time in exactly 100 years, and the stars will be arriving in Europe in pursuit of gold.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Team GB claimed 64 medals in total and finished fourth on the overall leaderboard.

Paris Olympics: dates and times

The 2024 Summer Olympics will begin with the opening ceremony on Friday, July 26 and will end on Sunday, August 11.

The Games will be hosted by France, with events taking place across the capital, Paris, while others will be held in Lille, Marseille, Bordeaux, Nantes, Nice and Saint-Etienne.

The party starts at 8.24pm, which on the 24 hour clock cleverly refers to 8.24pm.

Official times for the events have not yet been set, but the UK is one hour behind France.

The Games will be known as Paris 2024, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games will carry the slogan “The Games are Wide Open.”

Paris Olympics: How to follow

The entirety of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be broadcast live on the BBC and Eurosport.

The events will be shown across all BBC channels in the UK.

This can be watched free on TV as well as streamed live via the BBC website or BBC iPlayer via tablets or mobile devices.

TNT Sports and Discovery+ will also provide coverage of the Summer Olympics.

Paris Olympics: Bidding Process

Due to the withdrawals, only Paris and Los Angeles were competing to host the 2024 Olympics.

At the 131st IOC session in 2017, Paris was chosen to host the Summer Games after a concurrent agreement was granted.

Paris won the right to organize the games in 2024, while Los Angeles will host in 2028.

This will be the third time the French capital has hosted the Olympic Games, meaning it becomes the second city to do so after London.
