From research to use
In order to access knowledge from research projects, KIND cooperates with Habilitering & Hälsa in the Stockholm region, which runs a method development project with Riksförbundet Attention. With funding from Allmänna Arvsfonden and in cooperation with representatives of the project's primary target group (parents with ADHD), three digital products were produced. The first is the “Parents with ADHD” website which has now been launched. The site explores a variety of topics, from everyday stressors like cooking and cleaning to more complex issues like regulating emotions and how to maintain consistency in your parenting when you yourself struggle with impulse control and poor working memory.
On the site there are film, audio and text reports with specialists and parents. There are also animated movies that you can watch with children that can lead to conversations within the family.
– Personal favorite is a common theme of acceptance, says Tatja. There are a lot of misconceptions about this concept. You might think this means you have to love something, or just “accept and give up.” But it's not! I think the interview movie explains it well, how to accept the situation as it is and act on it. I also think all the fathers' voices on the podcast are so interesting to listen to. I hope the site can provide appreciation, new insights, boost self-confidence in parenting and contribute a tip or two of everyday advice, says Tatia Hervikowski.
