Publisher 2K Games blames that expired collaboration agreements mean they can no longer sell the game.
2K Games doesn't specifically say what type of agreement it relates to, but in similar cases with removed games, it's been about licensed popular music, of which “Spec Ops: The Line” contains a lot. Players who previously purchased the game will still be able to download and play it as normal.
“Spec Ops: The Line” struck like a bolt from a clear blue sky in 2012 when developer Yager Development took the sleepier, less budget action series “Spec Ops” and turned it into a dire wolf in sheep's clothing.
What starts out as a very traditional third-person action game slowly but surely evolves into one of the darkest and most depressing gaming narratives ever and a gritty examination of the entire action genre. Calling it one of the most important games of the seventh generation of consoles would be an understatement, to say the least.
