The UK's favorite movie locations have been revealed

Glenfinnan Bridge in the Scottish Highlands has been voted the best film filming location in the UK by holidaymakers.

Since its debut in 2002's Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the railway attraction has become closely associated with magical films.

Finally, in tenth place, is another Derbyshire location, Kedleston Hall – the principal filming location for The Duchess, a drama starring Keira Knightley.

The study also found that visiting film locations is a key tourism driver for staycations, with one in four Britons (26%) admitting they would plan a trip to visit a film location rather than a family member or friend.

Social media appears to be playing an increasing role in influencing the locations people choose to travel to, with 28% of Brits more likely to be influenced by a trip they saw on social media than a friend's recommendation (23%). .

Once they've made their film pilgrimage, 79% of Britons revealed they document their travels by taking photos, while 21% went so far as to re-enact a scene from a film.

Some Brits are willing to go that extra mile, perhaps too far, to get the perfect shot, with nearly one in ten (nine per cent) of men surveyed willing to risk being fined.

Google Trends results also reveal that over the past five years, searches for “movie locations” have skyrocketed during the holiday season, likely due to people wanting to visit the locations of their favorite classic Christmas movies.
