Hardware.info is a Dutch affiliate of SweClockers, a PC-focused site with many reviews of graphics cards and other components. It has been around since 1999, but now it is going – suddenly and without warning – to the grave.
All pages on the site now display a message that updates have stopped and the site has been archived. User accounts will soon be anonymized. in Longer message Editor-in-Chief Frank Everart writes about the decision, but does not go into any further detail about the reasons behind it. He mentions how the site was bought in 2016 by DPG Media which also owns Tweakers.net, but it cannot be determined whether that was because the company no longer saw any economy in running both sites anymore or something else. Frank Everaardt instead focuses on thanking all readers over the years and wishing them good luck.
Hardware.info mostly focused on reviews and published more than 260 pieces in 2023, but over the years it has also been the first to publish various news in PCs. For example, the site's testers discovered that in mid-2010, HP was selling laptops that were advertised as having quad-core processors, but in fact only had two cores.
