Beginner tip: Think about how you hold your mobile phone

Beginner tip: Think about how you hold your mobile phone

For those of you who are above with cell phones

If you are trying to get used to a smartphone, unexpected things may happen. We explain why.

For someone coming from a push-button phone, it can be easy to forget that the entire front of the phone is a pressure-sensitive surface where things happen when you touch it. This is a very common source of unwanted things that happen on a mobile phone for the inexperienced.

If you’re holding the phone with a grip so that it touches the front of the screen, the risk of interpreting it as if you’re pressing on the screen and something accidentally happening is high, and the same is true if I touch the screen when I want to point at something on it. And if it rings and you pull out the mobile phone by holding the front, there is a risk of rejecting the call.

So, hold the phone on both sides as much as possible and don’t touch the screen except when you want to scroll or tap the screen. Hold the sides even when taking the phone out of your bag or pocket.
