LCS player exit in progress – League of Legends

The League of Legends championship series makes headlines every week these days, usually for negative reasons. Today is not much different, as competitive stars who play in the LCS have now announced that they will come out and go on strike in hopes of making Riot Games Riot a more transparent hosting body.

As the LCS Players Association noted on Twitter:

The vote to withdraw passed by an overwhelming majority.

“This is not a decision that LCS players have taken lightly. Countless discussions and discussions took place among all LCS players in the week leading up to this historic vote. One thing is clear from these conversations – our players want to play and compete above all else. Being together to put competition aside is a testament to the importance and urgency of the issues at hand.

“We are in this predicament because Riot took action without prior contact or discussion with LCS players. The LCSPA sincerely hopes that Riot will avoid this path by joining us in the coming days for open and transparent discussions so that we can create collaborative solutions to ensure the best future for the LCS and the NACL.”

Since that decision, there have been reports of Riot Games asking LCS organizations to send teams to fill them in to compete for outgoing superstar spots, which the LCSPA responded to by asking players not to agree to play as replacement players, such as “Crossing the line threatens the future of all players: LCS, NACL, and amateur.”
