Audi is investing in urban chargers

With the Audi Charging Hub, the German car company wants to help Audi owners in cities charge their cars – but it’s open to everyone.

Why Audi invests in its own chargers when it joins and owns Ionity has its own explanation. The company claims to have identified the charging issue in its immediate area — for those who can’t charge at home. Therefore, they started building the concept of the Audi Charging Hub, charging devices near the city in the areas where many Audi owners live.

Because even if everyone could recharge Audi Charging Hub, so it’s cheaper for Audi owners with Audi charge cards (both the old and the new Elli-based service). Audi owners can also reserve a seat, unlike others.

Each module – the so-called Power Cube modules It consists of 1.05 MWh battery cells and a Hypercharger brand charger. The charging cable sits on a large arm and there is plenty of room to turn around. Good for both big and small. Chargers take their power from batteries, not from the mains. This distinguishes other charging points. But that means Audi can build its own charging points everywhere, as long as it can call a nearby company that has enough loan power to recharge the batteries. The power cube in question can charge about 15 cars on a single charge. Hypercharge chargers provide 160 kW of power if both connections are used or a maximum of 320 kW if only one is used.
