Now Google has finally released Matter support for its smart home gadgets and phones — without the need to install an update. Google has also launched Matter support for Fast Pair on Android, and says it will allow users to pair Matter devices to their home network “as fast as you can pair a pair of headphones.”
Nest devices that can act as a Matter hub include: Google Home, Google Home Mini, Nest Mini, Nest Audio, Nest Hub (1st and 2nd generation), Nest Hub Max, and the new Nest WiFi Pro. But only the Nest Wifi Pro, Nest Hub Max, and Nest Hub (2nd Gen) work as a Thread router.
