Rolf Lasgaard gives voice to Bamsey: Co-scare the kids December 15, 2021 – P1 Kultur Reportage

Perhaps one of Sweden’s most beloved actors. Rolf Lasgaard portrayed police officers such as Gonwald Larsson, Kurt Wallander and Eric Backstrom in the “Jägarna” films. But he also portrayed a transgender person in “My Dad Marianne” and was close to an Academy Award for his role in “A Man Named Ove”.

– It was a dream role but I didn’t know it before. It’s become a dream turn, he says.

Gives voice to the world’s strongest bear, Pamsey, in a new movie

Just in time for Christmas, he became fitting as the voice of the world’s strongest bear in “Bamse och vulkanön”. The step there wasn’t far.

– When it comes to Bamse, it was very simple because she is a character that has been in one’s life, since I was a kid even when I had kids, and now I have grandchildren at that age.

The deep voice is of course the reason he got the role. But it’s also a powerful tool.

– I was involved in intimidating children. If I get too violent, he says, my voice can frighten the kids and shouldn’t do that here.

Make a lovely reading of Christine Ekman’s novel

During his long career, Rolf Lasgaard has also worked with Lars Mullen and is probably known by many as the hot and slightly sexy potato merchant in the movie of the same name.

To radio listeners, he is perhaps best known as the narrator of Christine Ekman’s beloved modern classic “Waterside Events.”

Rolf Lasgaard tells the cultural editorial staff about how he chose his roles – and about when he almost put acting on the shelf.

– I really go for a gut feeling. Although it’s a story about difficult things, I want it to have something that uplifts the audience as well.
