Yes to 886 billion for American defense the world

Following the decision by the House of Representatives, which came after a yes vote in the Senate earlier this week, the bill now goes to President Joe Biden for his signature. The amount is at the level requested by Biden, and Congress’s decision is considered a compromise on the proposals submitted and decided upon by the House of Representatives and the Senate earlier this year.

Of the 886 billion, an increase of three percent compared to the current year, 842 billion will go to appropriations controlled by the Ministry of Defense, 32.5 billion to nuclear weapons programs, and 11.5 billion to other programs related to national security, according to American media. .

But Congress must decide early next year on actual funding for the grants.

Although the $886 billion amount includes, in its context, smaller aid worth $300 million annually to Ukraine, Republicans in Congress are blocking a much larger aid package for Ukraine worth $61 billion proposed by Biden. To answer this, Republicans are demanding tougher immigration policy, among other things. In addition to supporting Ukraine, this package also includes support for Israel and Taiwan.

According to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schwimmer, a Democrat, the Senate is postponing its holiday recess for a week to continue negotiating with Republicans on a possible deal on that package before Christmas.
