Over the fall, Microsoft introduced a number of new features for Windows 11, including tabs for Explorer, additions to the taskbar, and a new focus mode. All of them have been tested by users in various Windows Insider Programs before the official launch, so the activity hasn’t stopped and more features are in the pipeline.
One of the most recent additions is a new built-in screen recording tool, something that is currently missing. Microsoft has a tool through the Xbox Game Bar, but it partly requires the function to be activated, and partly the functionality is limited to recording everything that happens on the screen. For those who want to be able to record individual windows or for other reasons do not want to activate the Xbox Game Bar, software from third-party developers therefore applies.
The new tool is a further development of Existing screenshot toolIt is equipped with the ability to record what is happening on the screen. This can be done in full screen mode, but it is also possible to select a smaller area or a specific window.
Currently, the feature is only available to participants of the Developer Channel at Windows Insiders and is rolling out on a rolling schedule. Microsoft also warns that the functionality is still experimental and, among other things, has some issues with response time on startup.
