Bigger than it seems
A small version number can hide a big difference in the operating system.
The latest version of Wear OS, the Android-based operating system primarily aimed at smartwatches, is version 5, which was launched at Galaxy Unpacked on July 10 this year.
Now go publish Robot body With the information that Google is working on an upgrade to Wear OS 5.1, and that it may be a bigger upgrade than the version number suggests. According to the information, version 5.1 should be based on Android 15, unlike Wear OS 5, which is based on Android 14.
Although Android and Wear OS don’t have much to do with each other, they are both based on the same open source codebase. However, in the past, Wear OS has typically been based on the version of Android released the previous year — Wear OS 4 was based on Android 13 and Wear OS 5 on Android 14.
If Wear OS 5.1 is based on Android 15, it means that both operating systems are based on the same codebase for the first time, and also on a version of Android that has not yet been released, and there is no information on when either OS will be released in a sharp version.
