The State Veterinary Institute (SVA) wants to help the public collect images of ticks that have been visible in Sweden. The idea behind it all is that the SVA wants to map the distribution of ticks in the country and identify the different species found in different places in the country.
We know from previous collection projects that there is a great deal of interest in ticks and tick-borne diseases. Many feel uncomfortable and of course you don’t want to suffer from diseases that ticks can cause. This is fun, and we hope now that many more people will want to contribute to this group, says Anna Omazek, a researcher at SVA.
The SVA has developed an internet-based service called ‘Report Ticks’, which you can refer to if you want to report a tick sighting. You can find the tool here.
