Vattenfall, in collaboration with Finnish state-owned company Metsähallitus, has built Finland’s first large offshore wind farm, Vattenfall wrote in a press release.

The park will be built in Korsnäs, off the west coast of Finland, and will have a potential annual production of 5 TWh.

“We look forward to contributing our extensive experience to the Korsnäs project and helping Finland achieve its ambitious climate goals,” says Helen Byström, Head of Vattenfall’s Wind business district in the press release.

When completed, the wind farm will produce energy equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 2 million homes, according to the press release.

“We are convinced that this project will benefit the people of Korsnäs, the economic area around Vasa and all of Finland,” says Juha S. Niemelä, Managing Director of Metsähallitus.
