Valve is rolling out another change to Steam. This time, the platform’s user reviews are being affected by removing non-informative reviews on product pages to make room for actually useful information.
Steam user reviews can be a great way to see if a game is worth getting. However, the problem that has always been with reviews is how they are sorted on product pages. One review can be very detailed and helpful for those who are undecided. Another might be completely bland or just consist of a half-baked attempt at a joke.
Valve has now begun testing a new sorting method for user reviews on Steam. The company wants to focus more on reviews that can help potential customers make an informed decision about whether a game is right for them. These reviews should now be among the first to appear on a product page. Jokes and ascii art may therefore be moved to the bottom of review pages.
Valve promises that this change will not fundamentally change how user reviews work. Users will still be able to review game bombing if they want to take advantage of this trend.
