US elections: Democrats show more power than expected

There does not appear to be any “red wave,” a major victory for the Republicans, in the US midterm elections. Democrats in general appear to be doing better than they feared, according to trends early in the election.

As most polls have shown, Republicans are heading for a majority in the House, even though many of the 435 districts had not been counted by 06:00 Swedish time.

But the planned press conference, where House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy was supposed to declare victory, had to be postponed by more than three hours. Lots of options are still hesitant.

As for the Senate, Senate, nothing has been decided yet.

In the Senate, the score was 50-50 between the parties, with Vice President Kamala Harris voting for the Democrats.

Will the Republicans succeed in seizing a majority here? We may not know for several days – perhaps not until December 6, when a possible re-election will be held in Georgia.

Five states are identified as critical to which party controls the Senate.

Of those, only New Hampshire was identified early Wednesday morning. According to CNN, Democrat Maggie Hassan beat Republican challenger Don Bolduc.

And at seven in the morning, two major American media outlets – ABC News and CNN – broke the news that Democrat John Fetterman had won the Senate seat in Pennsylvania over his Republican challenger Mehmet Oz.

In other crucial countries Georgia, Arizona, Nevada – No reliable results yet. Republicans must win Senate elections in two of these states to seize the majority.

But it may take some time before we know how it goes.

In both Pennsylvania and Arizona, election officials have warned that the final result may not be available for several days. In Arizona’s largest precinct, Maricopa County, a wounded and time-consuming battle over election irregularities looms after Republicans complain of faulty ballot machines.

And in Georgia, there is a good chance that there will be new elections on December 6, which will happen if none of the candidates gets more than 50 percent. Early Wednesday morning, it was an incredibly close meeting between Democrat Raphael Warnock and his Republican challenger, Herschel Walker, with neither receiving more than half the vote.

To predict where the tail wind will blow Residents of the United States search a number of key areas. Three of them are in Virginia on the East Coast — areas where Joe Biden won the 2020 election and where Democratic representatives defend their states.

In two of those counties, the Democratic candidates, Jennifer Wexton and Abigail Spanberger, were re-elected by relatively comfortable margins. American professionals see this as a sign that the expected red wave will not appear.

Particularly interesting is that the most active election deniers on the Republican side – those who still insist Joe Biden win the 2020 election by fraud – have in many quarters done far worse than the more moderate Republicans.

Don Bolduc example, The losing New Hampshire Senate candidate, a former military man, admitted in the eleventh hour of the campaign trail that Joe Biden’s election in 2020 was legitimate. Now he is losing over 8 percentage points in an election that many thought would be exciting. Another example is the Pennsylvania governor’s election, where Republican Doug Mastriano, who rejected the election, easily lost to Democrat Josh Shapiro.

Congress can still have a Republican majority – and the House of Representatives is very likely to do so. But Democrats have shown unexpected strength in many parts of the United States.

In Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis was re-elected by a margin of more than 20 percentage points.

The exception is Florida, where Governor Ron DeSantis was re-elected by a margin of more than 20 percentage points. This former wave champion country is now clearly a republic, and Miami’s Latin electorate has changed their parties quite a bit.

DeSantis is marked as A potential Republican presidential candidate in the 2024 election. His landslide victory in the gubernatorial elections boosted his stockpile just days before Donald Trump announced his candidacy.
