Azets 4 Kids and Plastic Oceans Europe is launching, for the second year in a row, a Plastic Pick-up Day with the aim of reducing and avoiding plastic pollution.
On UN World Oceans Day on 8 June 2023, 7,600 Azet employees in Europe will help clean up their local area of plastic pollution through the Azet Plastic Pick Up Day event.
Azets, the international provider of finance and payroll services, has launched Plastic Pick-up Day through its charity Azets 4 Kids in association with international non-profit organization Plastic Oceans Europe.
Plastic Pick Up Day was launched as an annual event in 2022, and this will be the second year that Azets has encouraged employees and the public in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Norway, Romania, the UK and Sweden to take an interest in plastic pollution in their local area during Plastic Pick Up Day.
Plastic Oceans Europe helps Azets 4 Kids organize the Azets Plastic Pick-up Day and provides valuable insights into plastic pollution and tips on how to make Azets a more sustainable company. Azets 4 Kids was founded in 2019 to give children the opportunities and tools they need to create a better future for our planet.
Plastic Oceans is an international non-profit organization focused on ending plastic pollution and promoting sustainable communities around the world. Through education, activism, advocacy, and science programs, Plastic Oceans works to inspire change in consumer behavior, business practices, and policies.
Of the 380 million tons of plastic produced annually worldwide, up to 50% are reported to be single-use. It is estimated that more than 10 million tons of plastic is dumped into our oceans each year, with serious long-term impacts on marine wildlife and the environment.
Chris Horn, Group Chief Executive Officer of Azets, says: “We encourage all people to get involved in our purpose as an organization – to sustainably improve the lives of our colleagues, customers and the communities in which we operate. Last year, during our first Plastics Receipt Day, we saw great participation across the Group, and I am delighted to launch the Day Pick Up Plastic 2023 to once again celebrate the United Nations’ World Oceans Day.
“Through our charity Azets 4 Kids, we help create a better future for children and young people across Europe, with a focus on combating the devastating effects of climate change and environmental degradation. Our partnership with Plastic Oceans Europe highlights the importance of preserving our oceans and achieving sustainable consumption, while Demonstrating Azet’s commitment to sustainability.”
Andrea Torres Saa, Regional Director, Plastic Oceans Europe, says: “We look forward to working again with Azets 4 Kids for our annual Plastic Pick Up Day. Education is one of our cornerstones and we believe that by educating our future generations, we plant the seeds to change the world. We are excited to share this Approach with Azets.
