What’s new in iOS17
Among the news in IOS17 is that the phone can speak with an artificial voice that imitates you.
The function was actually developed so that people at risk of developing speech difficulties can understand themselves, but it’s still worth mentioning. As for the Personal Audio feature, it’s an interesting tech demo. It all boils down to reading 150 different English phrases, which your iPhone records. Based on these phrases, your iPhone then creates an artificial voice that mimics you and can be used to read any text you type.
Be prepared that creating your voice will take some time, as you first have to read 150 phrases in English, which may take 15 to 20 minutes, and then you have to wait all night for the iPhone to process the information before you can experience the result.
-
Start by finding a quiet environment where you will not be disturbed.
-
Under Settings, Accessibility, Personal Voice you will find the function and here you choose Create Personal Voice
-
Now you have to follow the instructions and read 150 different phrases in English. Unfortunately, the function is not yet available in Swedish.
-
Once this is done, the phone needs about 10 hours to process the information before generating sound. Once you’re done, you can quickly triple-tap the side button to bring up the text field where you can type the sentences you want the voice to say.
