For the past year, famed producer Timbaland and artist/producer Missy Elliott have been working on an upcoming album project. The last time that happened was for the 2005 album “The Cookbook,” which can be heard below. By all accounts, it appears that recordings for the new album are nearing completion HiphopDX. In regards to Variety’s award ceremony, Timbaland opened up about both the direction and the sound:
“We have a lot of songs we’re going to start recording soon, and my dream is to start them for her birthday in July. I want it to sound like it sounds – it sounds great now. We both look like we’re 19 again. I know how Messi works: it has to be fresh and fun – or maybe It’s not new like some kind of underground business, and it’s all optimistic.”
Timbaland went on to say that the sound is influenced by Latin American music – and that the album could feature guest appearances by Bad Bunny and Young Miko.
“Some of it has a kind of Latin feel to it, almost a bad bunny influence, and some of it is kind of like an underground Brazilian funk. People will eat it—and it might just reach a different demographic of people. It’s like she does…not reggaeton but messy.” toon”.
It’s unclear when Missy Elliott and Timbaland’s album project will be released, but the ambition seems to be in the summer according to the interview.
