Unfortunately, Microsoft has very strict methods to get us to use the Edge browser, and the computer is often set to use this program automatically. This applies, for example, to email links. Anyone who clicks on one of these programs may, against their will, end up in the Edge browser instead of the email program they prefer to use.
But fortunately, there is a simple solution to choosing what to open yourself, a function called Default Applications. This is the method you use.
foundry
- Press the Start button and open Windows settings (Or use a keyboard command Windows+in). He chooses Applications, Default applications And you go to Select default settings by link type.
- You now see a list of different links and what you should look for is the named link Milto. Here it is mentioned which program it will open with by default, e.g Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the icon and you'll see a list of programs you can choose instead. Select the software/application you want to use (eg Thunderbird or Prospects) and press Enter the default position. Now it should work.
Note that the menus look slightly different in different versions of Windows; This description applies to Windows 11.
