We are moving towards warmer times and so it might be nice to grab a cup of some cold brew.
And there is a drink that helps you and your body more to resist dehydration.
You might think that water. But this is wrong.
A little sugar will do
According to a study from St. Andrews University in Scotland It’s no secret: Water is very good for your body. Both carbonated and still water quickly rehydrate your body.
But the study also showed that drinks with less sugar, fat or protein hydrate you better and for longer CNN.
It’s a fine line. Drinks with more concentrated sugar, like soda or fruit juice, don’t hydrate your body as well. They also contain extra calories and sugar.
the more the better
There are two aspects that affect the amount of water your body drinks.
One is quantity—the more you drink, the faster the drink passes through your intestinal tract and into your bloodstream. In this way, your body is also hydrated faster.
The second is related to the nutritional content of the drink, as mentioned above. The right amount of sugar, fat or protein means the body stays hydrated for longer.
A drink that hydrates well
Do you usually have a little milk in your coffee or like to whip up a cup of cold milk with your food?
Then you found the right place. According to the study, milk, unlike water, can hydrate your body for a longer period.
This is because the drink contains lactose, some protein, and some fat.
…and coffee?
Coffee – in moderate amounts – is also a drink that hydrates your body, as is water.
Up to four cups a day is a good guideline.
But everything is sweetened by a little milk in the coffee – then you can drink more than that.
