The number of women in positions of responsibility in the Roman Curia and associated departments is increasing.
The Pontifical Commission for Ecclesiastical Antiquities was renewed by Pope Francis’ nominations, on Friday, November 25, of Monsignor Pascual Iocopone and Dr. Raffaella Giuliani as President and Secretary, respectively. Iacobone was a former secretary and member of the same committee and Giuliani a former civil servant. Dr. Raffaella Giuliani has written several volumes on the catacombs and on September 16 of this year, the Pope appointed her Professor at the Pontifical Academy Cultorum Martyrum.
As Under-Secretary in the Directorate of Culture and Education, the Pope nominated Associate Professor Antonella Ciaroni Alibrandi, Vice-Chancellor of the Universidad Cattolica del Sacro Cor, and Regular in Economic Law at the Faculty of Banking, Finance and Insurance Sciences at the same University in Milan. Ciaroni Alberandi is also President of the Association of Physicians in Economic Law.
The Pope also nominated a new Secretary for the Pontifical Academy dedicated to St. Thomas Aquinas: Associate Professor Luca Toninetti, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical University Urbana.
