Software returns to a classic series different from its latest game.
During the same event, their next match was shown, “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon”. Before From Software became world famous for its challenging “Dark Souls” games, it made several games in the “Armored Core” series, which focus on action-packed robot battles.
“Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon” is said to feature “groundbreaking game mechanics found in the developer’s latest action game” and offer “challenging and memorable battles, massive bot builds and bosses”.
The game is coming to Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC sometime in 2023. Here’s the first Fateful Trailer.
The last game in the series was “Armored Core: Verdict Day” from 2013, which received mixed reviews. According to the president of From Software and director of “Elden Ring,” they’re working on two more games in addition to “Armored Core,” but it’s not yet clear what they are.
In “Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon” you need to be able to move freely in 3D environments with great battles and a satisfying progression system. According to From Software, we’ll get the satisfying feeling of overcoming a difficult situation before taking on the next challenge, which clearly sounds like “Elden Ring” or “Dark Souls.”
Many may have hoped that “Elden Ring” would get an expansion like the previous games by From Software, but personally, I think it’s exciting that they do something different. However, the fact that the game is digitized can certainly scare some players away.
