The Swedish Energy Agency has granted additional support to projects within the Framtiden programme’s new electricity regime. 21 projects are now receiving a total of SEK 99 million to contribute to developing knowledge and competencies around the electricity system of the future.
The right knowledge and competence about the electricity system of the future is fundamental to our success in electrifying society and shifting to a sustainable energy system. The Energy Agency has many electrification-related mandates and works with the issue from a broad perspective – including through research funding.
The 21 projects receiving support in the first round of bidding in the Future Electricity System Program will work on:
- Research and development of innovative products and services for energy systems such as storage, power cables, system services, solar cells, power inverters and cogeneration
- Providing knowledge and creating conditions for the stability and security of supply in the future electricity system through the development of analysis tools, models and methods within the electricity networks
- Contribute to obtaining doctoral students to excellence.
– The projects will contribute to the necessary competence needed for the electrification of the energy sector, and doctoral students, who often hold jobs in business, will become important knowledge holders in, for example, power and heating companies, network companies and manufacturing industries, says Anna Johansson Norlin, Head of Unit at the Energy Agency.
