Former Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin announced Wednesday in an Instagram post that she and her husband, Markus Raikkonen, have filed for divorce.
“We filed for divorce together. We are grateful for our 19 years together and our beloved daughter,” Maren wrote in an Instagram post.
“We are still the best of friends, close to each other and loving parents. We will continue to spend time together as a family and with each other. We hope you respect our privacy. We will not comment further on this.”
The couple married in the summer of 2020.
Sanna Marin is the Prime Minister of Finland and leader of the Social Democrats. After the group’s party leader, Petteri Urbu, won the Finnish elections earlier this year, Sanna Marin announced that she would be stepping down as party chair.
– She said then, my endurance was put to the test howling.
It’s been a difficult year and I feel I now have a chance to step down.
