– It is a dangerous security situation we live in now. During the exercise, we are building the capabilities of the brigade within the framework of the division. The brigade’s ability is to coordinate different tasks in time and space. Although we are very focused on the combat function, intelligence along with sensor coordination and our command are key to being able to properly use artillery,” says Col. Michael Carlin, 4th Brigade commander.
together
Units and units from Ekcho in the south to Boden in the north are participating in the exercise. Everything to build on and develop the combat function together.
The exercise also includes educating and training executive managers at various levels in the brigade. The BrigU23 takes place as a fire brigade system with multiple fire units and sensor coordination for fire control groups, artillery position loop radar, remote warfare capabilities, and SUAV/TUAV and fire spotters.
At the brigade level, the BrigU23 should increase the ability to coordinate the work of all brigade indirect fire systems. The exercise also aims to coordinate and use the brigade’s sensors to control fire in a technically effective combat manner.
in close cooperation
Boden’s 8th Artillery Regiment, A, is in charge of the exercise for which Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Negrin is the exercise commander.
– Since the main task of the post is to support the maneuver, the planning before the exercise and of course now during the actual implementation took place in close cooperation between the Artillery Battle School and the 4th Brigade. Together, we created good conditions for the exercise and good preparation of all parts for the upcoming development of the indirect firing position, says exercise leader Kenneth Negrin.
