The BRA Team is made up of 42 local partner companies in the Gothenburg region, who promote health, joy, motivation and make a difference together. During the Relay Race, the BRA team works for the Cancer Foundation to raise awareness of cancer and highlight the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Together we can make a real difference and fight cancer. Through joy and physical activity within Team BRA, while at the same time raising money for cancer research, we can contribute to more people surviving and fewer people being affected, says Magnus Remer, Group CEO at BRA AB.
Cancer is one of the most common serious diseases, affecting up to one in three people. Cancer research is critical so that fewer people are affected and more people live. The Cancer Foundation is one of the largest fundraising organizations with a vision to defeat the disease. Thanks to advances in research, and everyone who has contributed along the way, today two out of three people diagnosed with cancer are alive. By arranging and participating in activities, the BRA team contributes to lifelong research.
– We are so excited about Team BRA’s amazing commitment and fundraiser to vital cancer research. Every effort counts and every commitment and contribution, big or small, is required to accelerate research progress so that we can achieve our vision of defeating cancer. Together we make a difference, says Janet Sundin, head of fundraising and outreach at The Cancer Foundation.
In addition to supporting cancer research, Team BRA promotes health and an active lifestyle. Three out of ten cancer cases can be prevented. Physical activity in itself protects against most forms of cancer, and every movement. By contributing to the further motivation of training among employees in BRA and in partner companies, Team BRA participates and influences statistics.
During Relay, he runs Team BRA for the Cancer Foundation, one of the participating companies is partner company Wangeskog.
Being part of the community at Team BRA is incredibly motivating and fun! Lap week is nothing but fun, every participant brings our success. There is a great deal of commitment between the companies, says Magnus Jacobson, Director of Electricity and Climate at Wangeskog, and we are working together towards common goals.
When Team BRA started in 2021, the goal was to raise SEK 500,000 for the Cancer Foundation during the year. Despite a special year with the cancellation of training events, the team managed to double the amount and collect more than 1 million kronor. Since then, the total collection amount has started to approach SEK 3.5 million. An amount that funds a research team at the Cancer Foundation for about three years.
