The Charge Amp bestseller is called the Halo, and it’s a neat little mushroom-shaped box with a fixed cable. When the vehicle is not connected to the mains, you can simply wrap the cable and secure the connector into a separate holder. Reasonably elegant and discreet. The box itself is made of recycled aluminum and glows nicely in the dark, if you choose to activate the function (it can be set in several steps).

Opinion
Charge Amps Halo 11 kW is a stylish and modern charging box for those who want a stable cable on the box. We like the design and features, which makes it a bit more expensive than the Norwegian models, but it also has a few other features as well.
Positively
- Easy to use app
- Additional output 230 volts in the box
- Stylish and powerful
- IP66 rating
negative
- No 4G connection
- Hard-to-reach 230V socket (when cable is wound)
The box we are testing is limited to a maximum of 11 kW on 3 phases (16 amps). However, a few users will still be able to use more than 11 kW in an AC box at home, so the power in the Halo is clearly sufficient. It is also available for purchase in a single-phase version (16 amps or 32 amps).
Installing the box is easy, but it makes it easier if the installer gets a helping hand. The front cover attaches to the base unit with a couple of thin cables and you don’t want the cover to droop loosely during installation. So don’t be surprised if the electrician complained and swore a little during installation, as this could have been resolved more smoothly.
Once it is in place and connected to the power station, it attaches neatly to the wall. It supports wireless load balancers and connects to your Wi-Fi network. Unlike the boxes from Easee and Zaptec, there is no 4G connection. If you want to be able to remotely control the functions and settings of the box, you need a signal from your router.
Connecting the box to a Charge Amp account is easy. The manufacturer’s cloud service allows you to control settings (limiting power), set the charging schedule and track statistics. The app is perfect, clear and easy to use on mobile.
A clever detail with the Charge Amp Halo is that it has an additional 230V socket, which is called a schuko plug. This can be really useful, for example when your old diesel Volvo is in the garage and you want to be able to hook up the engine heater. In the app, you can then choose to turn this port on or off, or schedule the heater supply. or outdoor lighting. Simply extra smart electrical outlet in the deal! BUT – the socket is on the underside of the box, under the cable winder, so it’s not easy to reach.
Charge Amps Halo costs more than other options, but you get a charging cable on the other hand. In addition, the construction appears sturdier with an aluminum casing than with a plastic one.
