Teenager eating hamburger in car – cop shot him

On the evening of Sunday, October 2, just before 11 p.m. local time, police were alerted to a disturbance at a fast food restaurant in San Antonio, Texas.

Police officer James Brenand was the first to arrive at the scene and saw a car that had escaped from him the day before, according to his statement.

The driver of the car was a 17-year-old boy who was sucking a hamburger into his mouth. When the car door is opened, you can see how the boy made eye contact with Police Officer James Brenand. Body camera footage shows how the boy put his hands on the steering wheel and started to reverse the car.

The policeman fired several bullets

Then the policeman took out his rifle and fired several shots at the boy and the car. The boy tried to escape from the scene while the officer fired additional shots.

The 17-year-old boy was shot during the incident and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. He was initially charged with infecting and hitting an officer, but it was not clear on Friday whether the attorney general intended to pursue those charges.

On the other hand, the policeman was fired due to his actions.

Untenable, says Police Chief William McManus to local media.

– From what I understand, some kind of contact occurred, but this does not at all justify the shooting.
