On the evening of Sunday, October 2, just before 11 p.m. local time, police were alerted to a disturbance at a fast food restaurant in San Antonio, Texas.

Police officer James Brenand was the first to arrive at the scene and saw a car that had escaped from him the day before, according to his statement.

Then the policeman took out his rifle and fired several shots at the boy and the car. The boy tried to escape from the scene while the officer fired additional shots.

The 17-year-old boy was shot during the incident and had to be taken to hospital for treatment. He was initially charged with infecting and hitting an officer, but it was not clear on Friday whether the attorney general intended to pursue those charges.
