In terms of technology, Swedish healthcare takes the lead, yet Swedish healthcare loses more hours due to downtime than healthcare in other countries.
In a new healthcare survey from mobility and IoT company Soti, according to the employees themselves, Swedish healthcare takes the lead.
Sweden loses the most hours
According to the survey, only 29 percent of Swedish respondents believe that the technology used in their workplace is outdated, this is lower than Germany, where 57 percent believe the technology is outdated, and Great Britain, where 56 percent think so.
Despite this, Swedish healthcare loses the most hours due to operational downtime of all other countries surveyed around the world.
Today, 5.1 hours are wasted per person per week in Sweden, which equates to about 30 working days per person per year.
Other states lose fewer hours
In both Europe and North America the number of hours lost is lower, in the US healthcare system 3.1 hours are lost per person per week, and in Germany 3.2 hours are lost.
“Care today is on its knees as it is. We are receiving care characterized by the spread of an epidemic, with long lines for care and overworked staff. The fact that nearly a month is lost a year due to technical problems is beyond all criticism,” he says. Will Viganensales manager at Soti in Sweden, in one press release.
Technology at a high level
In the survey, health care in Sweden was top of the list in most technical areas, with 79 percent of Swedish organizations having technology that enables remote monitoring of patients.
Video meeting software and chat functionality has increased rapidly in Sweden, with 83 percent of organizations responding that they have included it in their operations.
81 percent answered that they use connected devices to read data that enable remote data collection.
When technology is at such a high level, one might wonder why there are so many downtimes.
“United downtime can lead to unnecessary costs for the organization, lost revenue and, most importantly in healthcare, lost productivity. With full visibility of an organization’s devices and applications, you can easily manage mobile devices and reduce the high number of downtime,” says Vail. Velyanin in the press release.
