Swedish Christian films are offered as films for rent and purchase

– It’s a great pleasure and a pleasure to have a channel that we cooperate with. We have always wanted to create a forum in which it would be accessible to broad audiences, says the film’s director Maria Viklund.

The plot revolves around the young girl Ophelia, who in the 1840s awakens from a dream and realizes that something must be done, as more and more people in the parish live lives of misery far from God’s good path. Our main vision for the film was to show a part of Sweden’s history that has been forgotten in some way. It is a story that must be told. It is the cries of history that resonate in our time.

In 2019 it was shown The film – funded through so-called “crowdfunding” – is in a number of previews, and has received rave reviews from the audience.

In a way, it feels like the movie has been relegated to church contexts. But we felt that the film belongs to all of Sweden and Sweden’s history, says Maria Viklund, who hopes the film will inspire viewers.

She says that what happened in 1840-1843 in Sweden had very great effects in the country, but he also kept silent. With the film, they would like to be a calling voice today, and they also hope that there will be more people who want to express themselves in different creative ways.

– I hope it inspires more people to dare.

– We would really like more people to watch it in the cinema, it will be a stronger experience to sit together and watch the movie.

Besides, Maria hopes Viklund believes that the cries of Barefoot should inspire more Christians to create films.

– We hope that this movie becomes an inspiration that makes people see that the movie is not something that is hard to come by. The more different ways of expression we can convey the gospel, the more accessible we will be.
