Survivor launches on Saturday 28 October on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, airing on Saturday and Sunday nights each week.

Fans of The Masked Singer will be thrilled to hear that comedian Joel Dommett is the host of the show!

Speaking to the BBC ahead of the show's release, Dummett said it was a “huge compliment” to be trusted to host Survivor UK.

He said: “I realize how big this format is around the world, it's probably one of the biggest. I think it's really great, and I hope it continues for a long time. It feels like a really good time to I feel like there's a lot of shows that have happened in the last 20 years that have led us To that point and I feel like people will welcome it with open arms.

“Anyone who knows the Survivor format will already know it's in for an absolute treat, and if you don't, I'm confident you'll love it.”

How does Survivor work?

The premise of Survivor is fairly simple: co-workers will be stranded in an isolated location and have to fend for themselves, while also participating in missions to earn themselves immunity from elimination or rewards.

Contestants are gradually eliminated from the game as they are voted off the island by their fellow castaways – and whoever will be the last person standing will take home the huge cash prize!

“They will form their own tribal communities, forage for their own food, build their own shelter, and compete against each other in epic challenges for reward or immunity,” the BBC said. “Those who win immunity are safe from being voted out of the game at the famous Tribal Council.

“At each Tribal Council, each tribe must vote for one of their own, until the sole survivor emerges and wins the life-changing £100,000.”
