Ambitious rental platform Spotahome has appointed Cleo Sham as its Chief Operating Officer.
Sham was previously head of EMEA operations at Uber. Her brief at Spotahome is to oversee performance, delivery and expansion globally, and lead operations and the customer experience.
Spotahome is a disruptive property listing platform in some ways similar to Airbnb but focussed on lettings for a minimum of 30 days. The Spotahome team itself visits and personally checks, photographs and creates descriptions for the properties it lists.
Based in Spain Spotahome operates across Europe including London where it already has 4,400 listings and is establishing a HQ. The company raised $40m (£31m) in a Series B funding round last year. Its backers include Kleiner Perkins, one of the early backers of Google and Amazon.
Spotahome has also recently appointed a former Amazon product development specialist Balaji Nageswaran. So the latest appointment of a former Uber supremo could be seen as something of a statement of intent.
