Sixt orders 100,000 Chinese electric cars

German car rental company Sixt plans to buy 100,000 electric cars from the Chinese brand BYD over the next six years. The first millennium will be delivered during the fourth quarter.

You may sometimes see the BYD brand on electric buses in your city. But this is about passenger cars. It will be delivered to Sixt car parks in Germany, France, the Netherlands and the UK.

The first model to be delivered is the Atto 3 SUV, also known as Yuan Plus.

It is one of the three models that BYD will start with sell in sweden during the fourth quarter.

Sixt car rental company is available in more than 100 countries and has 2,100 rental locations. The plan states that between 70 and 90 per cent of the Sixt fleet will be electrified within eight years. In addition to the car rental business, Sixt also sells subscriptions.

The online magazine did not find any Chinese cars in the Sixt fleet today.

BYD is China’s largest manufacturer of add-on vehicles. The company sold just under 100,000 electric vehicles in September.

US car rental company Hertz has previously placed two large orders for electric cars: 65,000 from Polestar and 100,000 from Tesla.
