It took a while, but with iOS 17, shared playlists are finally coming to Apple Music.
Yes, the feature that many Spotify users complained about that was not present on Apple Music is coming later this year with the iOS 17 update.
With shared playlists, friends you’ve invited to the list can add and remove songs and change the order of songs in the same playlist. You can also react with emoji to songs when they are playing. With shared playlists, Apple is nailing one of the music service’s most requested features, so I was relieved that it finally arrived.
With the new iOS, we also get another long-awaited feature, fading between tracks. This way, all the music flows into one another without any silences between songs and instead the playback becomes one long mix. long overdue
Another feature in iOS 17 is that we can now play songs and playlists directly from the Music widget on the home screen. Before, you would only open the Music app when you clicked on the Music widget, but now they have more functionality right in the widget itself.
Combined with Dolby Atmos lossless and spatial audio, in-depth artist interviews and radio stations, Apple Music Sing karaoke functionality and live performances with international artists, Apple Music already has a huge lead over competitor Spotify. Now it feels like they’re circling around Spotify once they uncheck the feature with shared playlists.
Is it time to switch too?
