SD removes someone from service – wrote that Russia will invade Sweden

TV4's Kalla Fakta revealed how SD's communications department used anonymous accounts on social media. One person in the department has now been removed from the service after Expressen revealed how Russian propaganda was spread on social media.

Russia's annexation of Crimea escalated in February 2014. Shortly thereafter, the SD employee made several social media posts in which he blamed the EU and NATO and said that “Russia is defending its long-standing relations.”

In the coming years, 2015 and 2016, several posts were written about where Russia hoped to invade Sweden:

“Can't we let Russia occupy Sweden? The Social Democrats seem to be ignoring us, and the other EU countries are much more important.”

“Russia must be allowed to attack us,” he wrote in January 2016. To which the Prime Minister now responded:

– I just heard about this. I think anyone spreading Russian propaganda is behaving very badly.

In March 2022, he wrote a post about Britain sending Swedish-made weapons to Ukraine. The employee said they were “Swedish designed Nazi type weapons.”

It has been removed from service

-I have to see first to understand the context. Then I don't know how long it's been since I checked because I'm not very serious about X. I'm not a politician or anything like that, says the particular guy at Expressen.

The SD press service says they were alerted to the posts on Tuesday evening and wrote in a comment to SVT Nyheter that:

“We take this information very seriously and will follow up internally. At this time, he has been removed from his position. Since this is employment related, we do not intend to comment further on this matter at this time.”
