The new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 sits just below the flagship phones, but with the occasional new feature.
Qualcomm has introduced a new system chip in the form of Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. It is based on 4nm technology with a 1+4+3 configuration but a 3.0GHz ARM Cortex Hz). It is a different configuration from the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 which used a 1+5+2 configuration.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 describes itself as a model with select key features, which at least includes on-device generative AI with a language model of up to 10 billion parameters. It also has segmentation for up to twelve layers (faces, hair, clothes, sky, and more) in images.
The processor also has hardware support for ray tracing graphics, FastConnect 7800, and LPDDR5X memory support. Other key features include AV1 decoding, Bluetooth 5.4, aptX/aptX Lossless/aptX Adaptive, support for 144Hz QHD+ displays, Quick Charge 5 capabilities, and Snapdragon Seamless and Wi-Fi 7 integration.
Honor, iQOO, Realme, Redmi and Xiaomi will release devices equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, and the first devices will be announced as early as March.
