Qualcomm It confirmed that a security vulnerability in its Snapdragon processors had been exploited by hackers to attack mobile phones. However, according to the company, it was not about any large-scale attacks, but only about attacks against individuals. A security update that fixes the issue was sent to manufacturers in September, but it is up to individual manufacturers to implement the update on their devices. Therefore, it is not certain that users are protected, even if you update your mobile phone.
In total, there are said to be 64 different chipsets affected by the vulnerability, including the company's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 used in dozens of Android phones, including some made by Motorola, Samsung, OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi and ZTE – meaning millions of users. Worldwide potentially vulnerable.
The vulnerability also affects the Snapdragon X55 5G modem. Exactly what the vulnerability entails and what consequences it might have is not clear from the report.
