On Friday, the Västmanland region left the staff state for a month. The reason is to greatly reduce the spread of infection in the community, but also to reduce sick absences among employees. However, overlays remain.
Covid-19, influenza and RS virus are in decline, which is noticeable in both sampling and wastewater measurement. When it comes to the flu, the drop is steep. At the same time, the personnel shortage is not as severe as on Christmas and New Year’s, even if the problems are far from being resolved.
– For the area to leave the staff situation does not mean that everything has been resolved, but the challenges that remain from now on must be dealt with within the framework of normal operations. In the long term, however, we must work in the long term to remove the root causes of the shortage of places for care, says Lars Almroth, MD, director of health and medical care.
With the end of the staff situation, the Dec. 29 decision that mouth protection must be used during the entire work shift in hospital care is also rescinded. Instead, a mouth guard should be worn when working with patients.
