The two-day rally, called the Inspired MIPIM Rally: The Drift to Cannes, is taking place between 10 and 13 March.
It includes a number of notable checkpoints and aims to raise as much as possible for BuildAid projects around the world.
BuildAid is a small UK construction aid charity, specialising in community buildings such as medical facilities, schools and children’s centres. It aims to improve the lives of marginalised groups, victims of extreme abuse and those living in extreme poverty.
Skinner has called on others to participate in the event – either making the drive themselves or sponsoring a car.
Those choosing to drive need their own vehicle (road legal for Europe) and must raise a minimum of £500 for BuildAid. Accommodation is being arranged for participants.
People who can’t make the journey themselves can choose from various sponsorship options at various prices. They can provide their company’s logo to be made into a sticker for the driver’s car.
It is also possible to make a direct donation to BuildAid on the Inspired MIPIM Rally MyDonate page.
“We want to raise as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause. Any MIPIM delegates with a love of cars can do their bit. We’ll be travelling along some of the most beautiful roads in France and stopping are the best sights along the way. We would love others to join in the fun – the more the merrier. But if you can’t, please sponsor a driver and preferably me.”
“I founded the Inspired MIPIM Rally for property and car enthusiasts like me to help raise money for BuildAid, so they can build new schools, orphanages and medical facilities in the developing world.”
Skinner has previously driven across Europe in a McLaren 675 LT Spider for the 2017 Morris Cannonball Run, which raised over £160,000 for BuildAid.
He also helped to found the LandAid MIPIM Tennis Classic.
Now in its fourth year, the tennis tournament is held in support of LandAid, the property industry charity working to end youth homelessness. This year’s event takes place on 14 March at the prestigious Cannes Tennis Club. Last year’s event raised a record £20,217.
DealMakerz is impressed by Skinner’s drive to encourage the property industry to donate to charitable causes. We’ve no doubt his car will turn a few heads – and hopefully raise a lot of money for BuildAid.
