On Thursday 6 and Friday 7 October, Prime Minister Sanna Marin will participate in two summits to be held in Prague, Czech Republic, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. On Thursday, a meeting of the European political community will be organized for the first time, and on Friday an informal meeting between members of the European Council.
The purpose of the European Political Community is to provide a platform for political coordination to all countries on the European continent. The first meeting is held at the level of the head of state and government. The agenda includes an opening and closing session as well as roundtable discussions in smaller groups on the topics of security and stability as well as the economy, energy and climate. In addition to the heads of state and government of the European Union countries, leaders of 17 European countries from outside the European Union are also participating in the meeting. In addition to the EU countries, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Great Britain are also invited to attend the meeting. .
On the agenda of the informal meeting of the European Council are Ukraine, energy and economic issues. No decisions were made at the informal meeting. The European Council will return to the topics of the informal meeting at its October meeting.
The meeting also provides opportunities for one-on-one meetings with other Heads of State and Government. Prime Minister Marin, for example, will meet with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denise Gemayel in Prague. They met in Kyiv and Warsaw in May.
